Hamburg, 22 July 2026 – PROVIREX has consolidated its two Hamburg locations at the tecHHub Hamburg, bringing research, quality control and manufacturing under one roof. The move marks an important milestone in the company’s continued development of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).
Under the S3LTEC brand, PROVIREX operates Germany’s first S3**-GMP cleanroom production facility for the specialised contract manufacturing of CAR-T cells. The facility is designed to support the production of CAR-T cells, including for people living with HIV where clinically indicated.
The S3LTEC site comprises 400 m² of laboratory space, including 230 m² of cleanroom facilities covering cleanroom classes A to D, as well as dedicated quality control laboratories. The infrastructure can accommodate up to seven automated manufacturing platforms in cleanroom class C. Preparation for GMP certification is currently underway.
With laboratory and production activities now co-located, PROVIREX has further strengthened the basis for efficient collaboration and standardised manufacturing processes. The team has also been expanded with key expertise in manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, cleanroom management, pharmacy, biochemistry, virology and immunology.
Through S3LTEC, PROVIREX aims to contribute to improved access to CAR-T cell therapies in Germany. The company is open to strategic partnerships with academic institutions, clinical study centres and other organisations active in cell and gene therapy.
At the Hamburg Innovation Summit 2026, PROVIREX also presented its work on innovative genome-editing therapies designed to contribute to the development of a cure for HIV.
